HOW IT STARTED:

Back in 2011, a group of retired NFL players filed a personal injury lawsuit alleging negligence against the NFL. The group claimed the NFL had knowledge of the long term damage due to participation in the sport. Research studies show that individuals who endure head trauma (i.e. concussions) are at a higher risk for permanent brain trauma.

The settlements for the class action lawsuit officially became effective on January 7, 2017, meaning former players can register as soon as February 6, 2017.  With the settlement now at $1 billion, players could receive up to $5 million for brain injuries and side effects that include Lou Gehrig’s disease, Alzheimer’s, mental illnesses and more.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

NFL, NFL Europe and AFL players with at least one-half of an eligible season and who timely register in the settlement. Even if you do not currently show any symptoms, you may still qualify. Time is of the essence, so contact Nicks Law Firm today.
